René Grayre was director of the Philippe Staib Gallery in New York and the Staib Gallery and Sculpture Garden at Kent Station in Kent, Connecticut; the quick Space at 8 Greene Street; the Rostaing/Steinitz (later Rostaing/Grayre) Gallery in New York's Bowery district; the Robert Steele Gallery in Chelsea; and served as the Interim Director of the CCVA Galleries at the Chautauqua Institution. As a private dealer, artists' manager and art consultant, he curated shows in New York, Connecticut and Japan, including Hiroshima: From Me To You — Messages to Hiroshima From (Almost) Every Artist in the World (Fukuya Gallery, Hiroshima, Japan), Wendy Mark: The Steamroller Project at the Arsenal (Monotype in the Park) (Central Park, NYC), Big Jack Johnson Live at Exit Art with The Mississippi Photographs by Rex Miller, and A Benefit for the Delta Blues Education Fund, Photographs by Rex Miller, NYC. A writer, sculptor and singer, he was born and lives in New York.
